Activities in Pattaya
On this page
Pattaya's best days combine one big outing with plenty of time to relax. Plan Koh Larn for a weekday, keep the Sanctuary of Truth for a morning, and leave the theme parks for when you're travelling with children. Most attractions are outside the centre, so allow for traffic and agree on transport before you set off.
Island and sea
Koh Larn. The main day trip. Public ferries from Bali Hai Pier started from about 30 baht each way in November 2026, with some sources saying 40, and take about 30 to 45 minutes. Check the last ferry back. Tawaen is the busiest beach, while Samae and Nual are usually calmer. You can get around by motorbike taxi or by songthaew.

Water sports. Parasailing, banana boats and jet skis are everywhere. Be careful with jet ski rentals, as damage disputes are a well-known problem. Photograph the craft first, or simply choose a reputable tour.
Snorkelling and boat trips. Half-day and full-day trips to smaller islands are widely sold. Check whether lunch, equipment and pier fees are included, and whether the boat is shared with big groups.

Culture and sights
Sanctuary of Truth. An enormous hand-carved wooden temple by the sea, and it's still under construction. In November 2026, guides listed adult tickets from about 500 baht, and some online bookings were cheaper. Workers may require hard hats on parts of the site. Allow about two hours, and go early.

Big Buddha Hill. Wat Phra Yai on Pratumnak Hill has a large golden Buddha and good city views. It's free and easy to combine with sunset at the Pratumnak viewpoint. Dress modestly.
Floating market. The Pattaya Floating Market is a purpose-built attraction rather than a working market. It's fun for shopping and snacks, but check the entry fee and manage your expectations.
Family attractions
Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. Huge themed gardens with shows, south of the city. Packages vary widely, with bus tours and lunch add-ons, so compare what's included. Some shows use animals, so read about them first if that matters to you.
Water and theme parks. Large water parks and an aquarium are popular with children, and some sit well outside the city. Check height limits and transport before you go, and book ahead for holidays.
Animal attractions. Avoid places offering elephant rides, or close contact with big cats. If you visit a sanctuary, read recent reviews about how the animals are treated.
Evenings
Night markets. Thepprasit Night Market runs on weekends, and it's popular for food and bargains. Check current days before you go.
Seafood. Naklua and the piers are the best places. Ask about the price by weight before ordering.
Shows and nightlife. Cabaret shows are popular with families and groups. Walking Street is an adult nightlife area, so keep an eye on your bill and belongings, and go elsewhere if you have children with you.
A realistic three-day plan
Day 1. Sanctuary of Truth in the morning, a relaxed afternoon by the pool or at Wong Amat, then seafood in Naklua.
Day 2. A full day on Koh Larn, returning before the last ferry.
Day 3. Nong Nooch or a water park, then sunset at Pratumnak and a night market or a show.
Practical advice
Getting around. Baht buses are cheap along the main roads, so agree on the fare before chartering one. Ride-hailing apps are simpler for attractions outside the centre.
Safety. Check the sea conditions and wear a life jacket on boats. Avoid renting a scooter unless you're licensed and insured, as traffic can be heavy.
Weather. The dry months from November to February are best for island trips. In the rainy season, boats may be cancelled, so keep a backup indoor plan.
