8 capsule hotels for Haneda Airport: where to stay for late and early flights

Capsule hotels around Tokyo's Haneda Airport for late and early flights

Eight good-value capsule hotels on direct train lines to Haneda, in Kawasaki, Hamamatsucho, Shinagawa, Shimbashi and Ebisu, with notes on late trains, gender rules and luggage.

On this page

Haneda (HND) is close to central Tokyo, but late arrivals and early departures can make a normal hotel poor value when you'll only sleep for a few hours. A capsule hotel on a direct train line is a cheaper alternative, at about US$20 to US$55 a night in October 2026, and many have large baths, saunas and fast Wi-Fi. Many traditional capsule hotels accept only men or only women, so check before you book.

4 tips for staying overnight near Haneda

When choosing a capsule hotel for Haneda, the key question usually isn't how fancy it is, but how easily you can get there and whether you can get in late at night.

1. Use the two direct rail lines: Keikyu or the Tokyo Monorail

Two rail lines link Haneda with the city. The Keikyu Line reaches Shinagawa in about 15 minutes, continues on the Toei Asakusa Line to Shimbashi, Higashi-Ginza and Asakusa, and connects south to Kawasaki in about 15 minutes. The Tokyo Monorail runs to Hamamatsucho in as little as 13 minutes. So capsule hotels near Shinagawa, Hamamatsucho, Shimbashi or Kawasaki save the most time.

2. Check the last train (around midnight)

The last Keikyu and monorail trains from Haneda leave at around midnight. If your flight lands after about 11pm, you may miss them once you've cleared immigration and collected your bags. In that case, check the late-night limousine buses, or take a taxi to a hotel nearby in Kawasaki or Kamata. Check the current timetable for your date.

3. Large suitcases

Capsules are small, and lockers usually fit only a backpack or small cabin bag. If you have a large suitcase, many hotels have a secure luggage area or will store it at the front desk, so ask before you book. Take what you need for the night out of your suitcase when you arrive, so you won't disturb other guests by opening it in the corridor late at night.

4. Check the gender rules

Because of Japan's shared bathing culture, many capsule hotels near the airport accept only one gender. Rex Inn Kawasaki, Capsule Inn Hamamatsucho, 9h Shinagawa and Anshin Oyado Shimbashi take men only, and Anshin Oyado Tokyo Woman Ginza Shiodome takes women only. If you're a mixed group or a woman travelling alone, consider do-c Ebisu, with separate floors, or Phoenix Inn. Check the label on your booking, as you could otherwise be turned away.

💡 Tip
For a flight between 6am and 8am, stay near Hamamatsucho or Shinagawa the night before. The first monorail and Keikyu trains leave around 5am and reach the Haneda terminals in about 15 minutes, so you can sleep a little longer and avoid worrying about traffic. Check the first train for your date.

Can I take a train to these hotels after a late arrival?

The last Keikyu and Tokyo Monorail trains into the city leave Haneda at around midnight. If your flight lands before about 11pm and you clear immigration quickly, you can usually reach Shinagawa, Hamamatsucho or Kawasaki. If you're delayed or land later, check the late-night limousine buses, or take a taxi to a hotel near Kawasaki or Kamata.

Can I stay several nights and leave a large suitcase?

Most capsule hotels accept longer stays. For large suitcases, they usually have a secure luggage area or front-desk storage. Some traditional capsule hotels ask guests to leave the capsule during daily cleaning, typically around 10am to 3pm, although your bags can usually stay in a locker or the luggage area.

Are capsule hotels near Haneda suitable for women travelling alone?

They can be, but read each hotel's rules carefully. Many are men only (such as Rex Inn Kawasaki, Capsule Inn Hamamatsucho, 9h Shinagawa and Anshin Oyado Shimbashi). Choose a women-only hotel (such as Anshin Oyado Tokyo Woman Ginza Shiodome) or one with a separate women's floor and key card access (such as do-c Ebisu).

How far ahead should I book?

One to two months ahead is sensible. These hotels are popular because they're cheap and convenient, and they fill up during Japanese holidays, cherry blossom season (March to April), autumn leaves (November) and New Year.
